Hello dear readers and fellow traders. I bet by now you’ve probably been bombarded already with marketing materials from promoters of the Forex MegaDroid EA. However what none of those marketing e-mails contain is a backtest showing you how the EA performs for real. It so happens to be that one member of my Forex Nirvana forum has purchased Forex MegaDroid and ran a backtest from Jan 2009 to March 2009. I know the backtest is not really all that extensive, but Forex MegaDroid is particularly difficult to backtest properly because of its sensitivity to DST (daylight savings time) changes. Some so called “review sites” post backtests that are flawed because they fail to take this into account.
The EA has a variable called “AutoGMT” which by default is set to “true.” As the name implies what this variable does is automatically set the proper GMT setting based on your broker’s server time. The problem is that this is NOT going to work in a backtest. So when doing a backtest you have to MANUALLY set the proper GMT otherwise you are going to get some pretty horrible performance results.

The downside for those new to MD is that the price just went up:

Even at $149 I’d say so far it’s worth it.
