I just learned a few minutes ago that ForexHoster, a popular forex VPS (virtual private server) provider is offering a pretty sweet discount. You can now get VPS hosting for your Metatrader expert advisors with a 37% discount for your first month payment, which is available for all new customers from August 3 – August 10, 2009.
The window of opportunity is a bit small in my opinion, and I wish they extended it for a month so a lot more people can take advantage of the opportunity, but it’s their call.
Check out the features section on their website and see the comparison
of ForexHoster service with other Metatrader VPS hosting providers:
The main advantages and main features include:
– Web-based VPS customer control panel – access your Metatrader from
anywhere and anytime using any computer or device supporting web
browsing
– 100% uptime guaranteed by our datacenter – we are the only forex VPS
hosting service with a 100% uptime network guarantee!
– Pre-installed MT4 trading platform with the broker of your choice
– Pre-installed Fapturbo Expert Avisor
– Simple upload of other Expert Advisors (3 clicks only)
– Multi-Operating System Support
– Complete independence from the Microsoft Environment
– No Windows Security Flaws
– Zero Virus , Spyware, Malware or other fears
– 24/7 monitored Systems
– Prevent ‘Ghost Trades’ commonly found in Windows servers or home
pc’s
In case you missed the links lightly peppered across this posting, to get your discount simply visit the ForexHoster homepage over here.
By the way, on the front page of the ForexHoster website it still shows the regular price, but if you click on the “Sign Up!” link at the top they do mention the 37% discount at the bottom of the page, so don’t worry you will get the discount.
At the moment I know of no other forex VPS providers that are offering discounts and special deals, but when/if I find out I will be sure to let you all know.
I’ll end this post by wishing you guys a profitable week ahead. Now go get some pips!
Cheers,
Alan
Hi Alan,
The other “special” is with ForexVPS where we offer 25% off for the first month. So we are still better value:
Forex Hoster: initial charge first month $45.95 (that includes the 37% off). Then it is $69.95 per month
ForexVPS: $35 a month, with discount is $26.25.
The discounts apply to all our three plans. Also the fact is we have an MT4 expert to hand as well.
We also dont place limits on how many metatraders can be run (forex hoster only allow one).
Also playing the “no virus card”, comparing windows VS linux is actually wrong. There is plently of linux viruses as well.
Staog was the first virus ever scripted for the Linux operating system. It was initially detected in the fall of 1996.
Also the fact is Metatrader is a windows program and was never designed to run on linux. It can be run in linux using WINE but the performance is just terrible. All emulated programs are processor and resource intensive if they are not run in the operating system they were designed for.
On top of that there IS linux spyware, and if your interested i can send you resources so you can read about it, and also of course references to antivirus’s too.
Linux also does have security flaws (i should know i spent years in IT security).
Using a windows server it is also easy to prevent ghost trades. All a person need to do is to connect with the correct shortcut (console mode).
We even provide a tool to do that.
Hi Alana,
you are speaking from “Ghost Trades”, can you please tell me more or give me a link for more information of this theme? I didnt fint something with google, but i have similar issues here on a VPS… Thanks a lot and reagrds from cologne, germany
Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang. That term “ghost trades” is one I found on the ForexHoster website. I didn’t come up with it, but from my knowledge it refers to people mistakenly logging in more than once into the VPS session and thus leaving active EAs on their account(s) that continue to trade as if a ghost (even after they believe to have removed them)
This is what I’ve been able to find with google regarding this ghost trade terminology:
“In the guide it explains the importance of logging on in CONSOLE mode (using the /console switch). This will only work if you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2 or less. Starting with XP Service Pack 3 and Vista they upgraded the remote log on software and changed the CONSOLE mode to ADMIN mode (use the /admin switch). There have been several people configuring it with /console and are having multiple sessions open up on their VPS’s and complaining about “ghost” trades after they delete EA’s off their charts”
Hi Alan,
I made a post yesterday…was it moderated?
Sorry Paul the automatic anti-spam filter caught your comment for some reason.
Yes I’d say you’re right. In the end ForexVPS is a better deal. I dunno why, but I was oblivious that your company offers a discount for the first month as well.
As far as the points you mentioned about Linux and security, well, you’re right in a sense, not even Linux is 100% secure. However I would argue that overall it’s more secure than windows so far. But that’s a whole different discussion.
I don’t think they’re running customers’ MT4 sessions in WINE cause that would god awful slow. They’re probably using some other emulation system but then again I’m only speculating.
Anyways, for everyone else the link to ForexVPS is:

Thanks Paul!
Yep, I saw the posting on your blog. I too will make a posting letting all my readers know about the new UK VPS service.
I’m curious if later on you guys will offer VPS servers located in Canada.
Thank you very much Alan.
Also I would like to let you know that today we launched VPS’s in the UK datacenter.
So people can now choose between USA VPS and UK VPS.
Have a good week and keep up the good work. Lots of good solid and valuable content on this blog.
As to running it in WINE , yeah it would be slow. It dosent matter what emulation system they use, it will always be slower than as if it was run on its native system it was designed for.
(That is true of any program, not just MT4)
Hi Alan,
I have not heard of any plans for a datacenter as of yet for Canada.
Is there any particular reason for us to consider it? Or can you give some info or ideas why we should look into it?
By the way have you got twitter?
Well I’m thinking the closer the VPS is to the “main markets” like New York, Toronto, etc the better for trader – ie less latency.
Yes I do have twitter.
